Self Defense & Law Related:
1-The New York State Penal Law- (Choose the Penal law for whatever state you live). Every man should know what is legal or not in his particular state. "I didn't know" is an unacceptable answer to the Police.
2- Boston's Gun Bible (by Boston T Party)- A Fantastic Book on everything you need to know about Guns. Covers all topics from each State's laws, to Gun selection, to tactics etc. A "MUST HAVE" in every Americans library. Gun training should be your first priority in your self defense training. Those serious about protecting themselves and their families should at a minimum have a Rifle, a Shotgun and a handgun, along with the necessary training to use them safely, tactically and legally. We highly recommend Front Sight for Rifle and Handgun training and Louis Awerbuck for Shotgun training. Armed Response also offers some good and affordable training here in the East. Remember though,you will not always have access to your firearms or you may need to fight to get to your firearms. That's were your KFM training comes in and why it is so important. Our training is designed to flow into and use in conjunction with firearms training.
3- Knife Laws of the Fifty States (by David Wong)- Great book on what knives can be legally carried in every state of the USA.
4-Principles of Personal Defense (by Jeff Cooper)- Arguable the greatest book ever written on self defense. There are no techniques in this book. It's all about what's between your ears. Self defense is much more emotional and mental then it is physical. If you don't own this book, go buy it now.
5- The Gift of Fear (by Gavin de Becker)- We are not in agreement with Gavin de Becker's Anti-Gun position for law abiding citizens but aside of that, there is a lot of usefull information to be taken out of this book. Your 6th sense is your best friend. Listen to it.
Diet & Nutrition Related:
Whether it's about weight management, peak performance or just wanting to live a healthy, disease free long life. It's all about your diet, period. Following the Paleo/Zone diet will take care of all of these areas.
6- The Paleo Diet (by Loren Cordain, Ph.D.)- A fantastic book that explains what humans were scientifically designed to eat (and what not eat). The best diet for optimal health on the planet hands down.
7- The Paleo Diet for Athletes (by Loren Cordain, Ph.D.)- The Paleo Diet that is geared towards high performance athletes.
8- Entering the Zone (by Barry Sears)- Combine this method of food measuring with the Paleo Diet for the Ultimate in human performance.
9- Mastering the Zone (by Barry Sears)- The sequel to "Entering the Zone". It explains the Zone theory's further.
First Aid:
10-The American Red Cross Handbook-Responding to Emergencies- This book should be kept handy in every household for Emergencies.
